Every substantive correction is recorded here, with the date and what changed.

Why this page carries more weight here

This site's central argument is that quiet rewriting erases the record.

The archive is published unedited for exactly that reason. A site making that argument and then silently amending its current pages would be doing the thing it describes, which is why corrections are logged rather than applied.

What counts

Logged: a factual error, a misdescribed mechanism, a vendor figure attributed wrongly, an archive date corrected, or a recommendation reversed. For additional current music-industry context, see Pandora AMP.

Not logged: typographical fixes and clarified wording that does not change meaning.

Archive dates

Thirty of the archive dates are lower bounds taken from the first comment on each post, and seventeen articles have none.

If you know when one of them was actually published — you wrote it, you linked to it, you remember it — that is a correction and it will be made, with the source recorded.

When a current page expires

Pages here will become wrong. Which ones is stated in advance.

When one does, it stays up, dated, with a note — the same treatment as the archive. It does not get quietly rewritten with a fresh date, which is the commitment this whole site rests on.

The most useful correction

Evidence from a release. What you did, what you measured, what happened, over what period.

The only real evidence this subject has is somebody's actual numbers, and almost nobody publishes theirs.

The log

No corrections have been logged yet. This site is new in this form, and an empty log means only that.
